We bought a farm!

Brian and I traveled to Iowa this weekend to look for a house...and we found one! Not just a house, but an entire farm! We're pretty excited, especially because I'll have a place for chickens and the dogs will have plenty of room to run and explore. The house is in Badger, Iowa (right outside of Fort Dodge) and sits on about 8 acres. You can see the entire property by clicking here to see the real estate listing. Below are a few photos that we took. The first is a photo that the sellers had on display showing the entire property (I took a photo of it with my camera that came out pretty good!). Make sure to notice the huge chicken coop in the bottom left corner. I also included a shot of the property from a distance (yup, in the middle of corn fields), a photo of the kitchen (my favorite part), the awesome wooden entryway/mudroom, seperate sunporch, and the barn. Brian has big plans to purchase a tractor to keep the fields in check.

We had a great time in Fort Dodge and are eager to start our new adventure. We'll leave on June 10th or 11th and will close on this property on June 19th. Brian starts work on the 23rd. Lots to do!

Farewell Boat 'sniff' 'sniff'

'Sniff'. The boat is sold. Here are some final photos of Brian saying goodbye as he parked the boat at his parents' house awaiting the buyer to come and pick it up. No doubt new toys await us in Iowa, so the sorrow was short lived!

Fun at Pioneer Park and the Salmon Bake

Mom and Dad (Platt) were in town last week for Jen and Nate's birthday and to finalize the sale of their house in North Pole. Check out a short video of the birthday party by clicking here. Twins never grow up! I'm glad that Seth (my twin) and I don't act this way when we're together!
We also went to the Salmon Bake at Pioneer Park. Here are some photos from the day. The photos are of: Grandpa Platt and Beth, Grandma Platt and William, Beth and her dad Nate on the big salmon, Mom and Dad walking William, William being his smiling self, and Nate and Jen. Fun evening, sunshine, and great food!

Yes, the house is sold!

Yes, the house is sold! Actually, we had an acceptable offer in less than a week after it was put on the market. We're happy with the offer, but do have to put in a new septic before we leave. Too bad, but we're pleased to be leaving the new owners with plenty of H2O (Brian put in a new well before we got married in 2006) and a place for all the water to go once it has been used.

Commencement

Well, I'm officially a graduate! Here are some photos from this past Sunday. Walking was a lot of fun...and is having a Master's. I'm the first (but probably not the last) in my family! The first photo is of the Carlson Center during the ceremony, the second is me walking across stage and the final is Brian and me afterwards.
